The TITLIS Rotair cable car closes from August 17 to December 11, 2026 for summit redevelopment. Your ascent begins at Engelberg's valley station and climbs through the Trübsee mid-station and Stand before the final leg aboard the TITLIS Rotair, the world's first revolving aerial cable car, which completes a full 360° rotation in five minutes.
Mount Titlis is mid-way through a CHF 150 million redevelopment replacing its 1960s summit infrastructure with a new Peak Station designed by Herzog & de Meuron. The first major milestone: the TITLIS Tower opens June 1, 2026, adding a 360° Horizon Deck at 3,020 m (CHF 18 adult / CHF 9 child), Joseph's Restaurant (120 seats, opening June 3), and a bar. Construction continues in phases through 2029.

The TITLIS Rotair revolving cable car closes from August 17 to December 11, 2026 for summit demolition work. During this period, the summit stays reachable daily via the new Titlis Connect cableway, a single-track tramway that arrives ~70 m lower and connects to summit facilities through an underground tunnel. Expect longer waits and a different arrival experience.

June 1 through August 16, 2026 is the sweet spot. Rotair runs normally, the new Tower and Horizon Deck are freshly open, and Glacier Park is in season. You get both the classic experience and the new attractions.

Yes, but the core experience holds. Cliff Walk, Glacier Cave, Ice Flyer, and viewing terraces remain open. However, expect construction noise, altered pathways, tracked snow from machinery, and occasional Cliff Walk closures during helicopter operations. Northern panoramic views are largely unobstructed. Most visitors still rate the trip positively, but knowing what to expect avoids disappointment.

📍 Address: Gerschnistrasse 12/14, 6390 Engelberg, Switzerland
The Titlis valley station sits at the edge of Engelberg village in central Switzerland, about 2 km from the Engelberg train station.

Two dining zones on the mountain, both run by TITLIS:
All standard round-trip tickets include the full cableway ascent (TITLIS Xpress + Rotair), Cliff Walk, and Glacier Cave. Ice Flyer is a separate CHF 12 add-on, unless otherwise mentioned in your tickets.
Not for free. The Swiss Half Fare Card gives 50% off the cable car. The Swiss Flexi Travel Pass covers rail to Engelberg and offers cable car discounts.
Round-trip cableway tickets cover Engelberg-to-summit transport only; you handle your own rail travel. Day trips from Zurich or Lucerne bundle city transfers with the summit visit.
Booking 1–2 days out is ideal. Weather drives the value of this experience, and cloud cover can wipe out summit views entirely. Lock in your date once the forecast is clear.
No official sightseeing fast-track exists. The cableway runs continuously. Online prebooking saves ticket-counter time but doesn't change boarding order.
Policies vary by product, though most tickets allow free cancelation up to 24 hours before the experience. Check the cancellation terms on each ticket before booking. Weather-related closures may qualify for rescheduling — confirm with the operator.
Allow for 2–4 hours on the mountain from Engelberg. A full day from Zurich or Lucerne including travel. Do not try to combine with another major mountain excursion.
Largely yes. Cableway stations, gondolas, Rotair, terraces, and restaurants are accessible. No pre-registration needed. The Glacier Cave and Ice Flyer are exceptions to this rule.
